Don’t have or want to use a credit card? Don’t want to fill out offers? Well I have good news for you guys!
Starting next month, game time cards will be available for many Playdom games. This includes Mobsters, Mobsters 2 and Sorority Life.
Quote:
Playdom, one of the leading social gaming networks, announced today that they are launching a line of prepaid cards that will soon be available at Target, Walgreens, and 7-11. If you had any doubt that the social gaming space has become a big business, this should make things clear. The cards will now be available at more than 150,000 retail locations and can be used to purchase in-game currency on Mobsters and Sorority Life, two of Playdom’s largest games.
Hope this helps guys! Also, as promised, offer improvements are be rolled out right now to a number of games. Mobsters Facebook got a small taste, and others will get them in the coming weeks and months. I’ll let you guys know when we update MySpace.

As Requested: New Melee Weapon

Posted in Mobsters 2, News and Updates on September 30th, 2009 by Brian Drake

limoncelloPlayers have pointed out that there isn’t a very strong Melee Weapon in the game yet. We’ve taken this into consideration and are working to make the Melee section a bit more formidable. As a start, Arsenic-Laced Limoncello was released earlier today. This item boasts an attack of 30, a defense of 10, and isn’t as pricey as previous LEI’s, at only 11 FP’s.

hecklerkochg36If you’re looking for a bit more bang for your buck, you can also pick up the Heckler & Koch G36 today. The only gun more powerful than this guy right now is the Set of Glock 17 Pistols. Not too shabby, eh? With an attack of 38 and a defense of 17, it couldn’t hurt to lug one of these around.

Coming Soon: More For Your Avatar +

Posted in Mobsters 2, News and Updates on September 29th, 2009 by Brian Drake

avatarRecently, many players have been asking for more ways to customize their avatars. At the same time, other players have been requesting new missions. So later this week, you should see a few new missions pop up in different locations on the World Map. Some of these missions will be regular missions, but some will offer new avatar items as rewards. We think these updates will help satisfy both desires. While we can’t provide much more info on this update right now, remember to keep on the lookout for these and some other exciting updates this week in Mobsters 2!

This mission can be done once per day and will allow you to publish the results to your profile page. Please be aware that this is no kiddie fortune teller; some of your fortunes might be quite shocking.

At this time, this is the only mission available in Coney Island. Keep your eyes open for similar mini-game missions to be added here in the future.

Problems With Gifts?

Posted in Bugs & Technical Issues, Mobsters 2 on September 25th, 2009 by Brian Drake

cohibasublimeMany players have been reporting that they are unable to receive gifts from friends. We have reproduced this error on our end and are working hard to have it resolved. Please be aware that we also released a fix in our most recent update to disallow players from exploiting old gifts sent and using outside links to receive gifts. If you have any gifts that were sent to you before our update last night, you will  not be able to redeem those gifts now. We apologize for any inconvenience these errors may cause.

Update (9/25 3:45 PT) All players should now be able to send and receive gifts at this time.

ledescripBeen wondering why someone would use a Dragonskin Ballistic Vest? Confused about what a Streyr AUG might be? As part of today’s update, we have added item description pop-ups that will provide more information for all future Limited Edition Items.

Please know that these boxes will only appear when the Items are in the Featured section, so when you view an Item you purchased in the regular Equipment section, you will not be able to view the pop-up.

One of the great things about Mobsters 2 is that you aren’t in it alone. Your friends are always close by. And, if they’re good friends, they’re always willing to lend a helping hand. That’s where the Gifting Feature comes into play. Each day, your friends can help make you stronger by sending you items. Energy Drinks are always good, Beretta Shotguns are always great, but we’re wondering: What is the best gift you can receive in the game?

Last week we asked what item you desired most. This week, we’re wondering what gift you like receiving most. Let us know what you think by responding to the Poll below and leaving any constructive feedback you have in the comments section. Next week, we’ll post the results and you can see if everyone else likes the same gift you do!

Please remember: You only get one vote each week, so choose wisely!

Poll 2 Results: Hit-Man/Laser Rifle Duke it Out

Posted in Mobsters 2, Polls on September 24th, 2009 by Brian Drake

For our second Blog Poll we asked: What is the most desirable item in the game?

You said: Trained Hit-Man (by a nose)

It was a close one, but it seems that more of you enjoy the higher stats and exclusivity of the Hit-Man. We won’t forget about those of you who showed support for the Laser Rifle, though, so don’t worry. This poll provided some valuable feedback that we will keep in mind when introducing new items in the future. Here are the full results of the poll:

  1. Trained Hit-Man (29%, 185 Votes)
  2. Experimental Laser Rifle (29%, 181 Votes)
  3. Ford Shelby GT500KR (18%, 112 Votes)
  4. Window-pane Overcoat (15%, 93 Votes)
  5. Perimeter Watchman (6%, 36 Votes)
  6. Ford GT (3%, 23 Votes)

Many thanks to all 629 players who voted! Keep your eyes open for the next poll coming later today. And as always, Happy Mobbing!

New LE Item: Set of Glock 17 Pistols

Posted in Mobsters 2, News and Updates on September 24th, 2009 by Brian Drake

set_of_glock_17_pistolsEquipping each of your mob members with one gun is great, but equipping them with two is even better! As of today, you can pick up a Set of Glock 17 Pistols from the Equipment page in the game. These shiny new toys boast an attack of 39 and a defense of 16. Even an exoskeleton has a hard time defending against that!

Character Class Confessions: The Defender

Posted in Character Class Confessions, Mobsters 2 on September 22nd, 2009 by Brian Drake

For the second installment of our Character Class Confessions Series, we will be taking a look at the Defender class. We were strolling through Chinatown over the weekend when we saw this big guy standing in front of a small convenience store. Looking a bit out of place, but oddly friendly, we asked him how his day was going and we got to talking. Here is a bit of that conversation for you to enjoy:

Mobsters Team: We haven’t seen you around before. Do you hang out in this part of town often?

Defender: Of course. I love this place. There’s always lots goin’ on: great sights, smells…and you can always find a punk with a big mob and a bigger ego who think he can take you down.

So there’s lots of fighting going on around here?

Yeah, usually. It gets a lot rougher when all the tourists and other folks clear out and the lights go down. That’s when the real fun begins.

You said that a lot of people here have pretty large mobs. How do you usually stack up against them?

Well, I got a pretty nice crew just the same. I just know that runnin’ in guns blazin’ aint always the best strategy. I let these clowns come to me, I outfit my crew with the best gear, and I try to up my defense any chance I get. So when I’m hangin’ out in this neighborhood and these kids come in thinkin’ they’re big shots, they quickly see I ain’t the guy to mess with.

Wow, you have it all worked out. You said something about equipping your crew with the best gear. What kind of stuff do you usually use?

Well I’m more of an experienced guy, so I got everything from Steel-Toed Boots to Anti-Stab Vests and Tactical Shields. Equipment is important, but you can never count out experience. I think it’s more important that I use my experience to improve my defense. You can run around with all the guns and cars you want, but the more experienced guy will usually come out ahead every time.

Going back to your equipment briefly, we’ve heard there are some experimental things out there, some thing called an ‘exoskeleton’, etc. Have you tried these?

Of course. Just don’t tell anyone I got ‘em. They’re not really supposed to be out, but I know a guy who hooks me up. He gets me all my armor on the cheap.

Really? Do you have any other connections like that?

Well, I can’t let you guys in on all my secrets. But since you seem like nice people, check this out: Dragonskin Ballistic Vest. Pretty nice, huh? Got it and my Overcoat by turning in some favors I had saved up from the GF.

Very nice. We’ll let him know we talked. Well, thanks so much for taking the time to talk with us.

Not a problem at all. I’ll be seein’ you. Tell the Godfather hello, will ya?

Be sure to check out the Defender character class in the game under My Mobster: Change Class. The Defender will receive a 20% discount on pieces of armor and will have a 15% chance of a spirited defense when attacked.
